    Drop off and collection information
Dear parents and carers It’s been a real pleasure to welcome your children into school over the last week. The vast majority have settled very quickly and even those children that have found it tricky to return to, or start school, are doing well with support from parents and staff. I’m sure you will appreciate that running a fully open school during a pandemic is a new experience for all of us. Although we worked very hard throughout the summer to prepare to welcome your children, our arrangements only work if everyone cooperates with them - staff, children and families. Once children are in school we are doing our best to make things feel ‘normal’, despite all the extra precautions in place to protect the health of children and staff. Drop off and pick up arrangements are one of the areas where we cannot operate on a ‘business as usual’ basis. Our School is operating according to the guidance which can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/actions-for-schools-during-the-coronavirus-outbreak/guidance-for-full-opening-schools This is a direct extract from the guidance which covers arrival and leaving school:- "d. Measures for arriving at and leaving school We know that travel to school patterns differ greatly between schools. If those patterns allow, schools should consider staggered starts or adjusting start and finish times to keep groups apart as they arrive and leave school. Staggered start and finish times should not reduce the amount of overall teaching time. A staggered start may, for example, include condensing/staggering free periods or break time but retaining the same amount of teaching time, or keeping the length of the day the same but starting and finishing later to avoid rush hour. Schools should consider how to communicate this to parents and remind them about the process that has been agreed for drop off and collection, including that gathering at the school gates and otherwise coming onto the site without an appointment is not allowed." We have put a huge amount of effort into revising our curriculum and timetabling to ensure that our staggered start and finish times do not impact on overall teaching time. Likewise, we have carefully planned the logistics of so many parents and children accessing the site in a short space of time. As you can see, these arrangements are in response to government direction for schools. When parents and carers ignore the time slots allocated for their child they place a great deal of pressure on the few staff who are available to manage the comings and goings at the school gates. We would like to remind everyone attending our school that we are operating during a pandemic. It is the responsibility of all adults to follow the rules and minimise the risk of infection for everyone. As infection rates in Kettering and the surrounding areas are a particular cause for concern right now, we all need to be cautious. Please support us as we try to play our part in minimising community transmission. We must bear in mind that there are many in our community who are more vulnerable to Covid-19; for these people the school run is a particularly worrying experience. Please help us make it as safe as possible for all by following our carefully thought out arrangements. We understand this may be a little inconvenient but right now everyone’s safety is our top priority. Thank you for your cooperation - here is a reminder of your child's class and group times.
