e-Safety Rules

Internet safety

As part of an enriched curriculum your child will be accessing the internet on a regular basis, they will also be using e-mail and personal storage space within the schools secure internal network.

Please help your child to safely access the internet by looking at the attached, ‘staying safe on-line’ document. It’s a list of simple statements that will hopefully help you discuss the subject at home. When you’ve looked at this together please sign and return it to school. You can find further resources at www.thinkuknow.co.uk

These are our full rules for using the internet safely which we will be reinforcing with children in school;

  • We use the internet safely to help us learn
  • We can send and open messages with an adult
  • We can write polite and friendly e-mails or messages to people that we know
  •  We only tell people our first name
  • We learn to keep our password a secret
  • We know who to ask for help
  • If we see something we do not like we know what to do
  • We know that it is important to follow the rules
  • We are able to look after each other by using our internet safety tools
  • We can go to www.thinkuknow.co.uk for help

We have a full e-safety policy with clear guidance on how we manage breaches of the rules whether deliberate or accidental; this can be found on our website under Policies - Acceptable Use of IT  or you can ask to see a copy in school.

Children are confidently accessing the internet from an ever earlier age but hopefully we can work together to keep your children safe and secure both within and beyond school (e.g. at a friend’s house or at home).

Should you wish to discuss the matter further please contact the school.
